Dinner Time

Weekend always provide a little break in our busy schedules and the girls like to invite friends over for dinner and then watch a movie or listen to each other play on the piano. Here Jin is helping herself to a stir-fry dish while “Jim” and Seulki enjoy the meal with several of their friends around our kitchen table. The picture below is that of You-Jin and Peter Choi in our living room talking about a piece of music.

Dinner time whether on the weekend or during the week is always a good time for us to check in with our girls to see how their day went and how they are doing in general. One of the good habits our girls have which we could never quite teach our own children is that of staying at the table and enjoying conversation with each other until everyone is done eating. Meals with our own children maybe lasted 20 minutes before everyone rushed off. Now a days meals last at least 45 minutes and often an hour as people just sit around the table and enjoy each others company. This time allows us to hear how You-Jin is doing in Economics, how Seulki got another 4.0 in Mr. Strout’s math class and how Jin is doing in her English class with Mrs. Gaudion. Of course there are the stories of boys and who likes whom and always questions as to when we are going shopping again in Bangor. It is also a time when we share family stories, particularly the funny ones which allow the girls to get to know us as well.
