Loster Anyone?

One can not spend time in Maine without partaking in a Maine’s favorite crustacean. Here You-Jin, who is our resident comedian and constant tease gets ready to eat her first Maine lobster during our recent visit to Bar Harbor.

Dottie and I also took 24 other boarding students on this weekend trip to Bar Harbor. This is way beyond the normal duties of host families, but Dottie and I love Bar Harbor and wanted to share it with our 3 boarding girls, but also with other boarding students at the Academy so we invited a few others along for the weekend.

In addition to eating lots of lobster we took the kids to Acadia National Park where the water temprature on Sand Beach was only 41 degrees F., nonetheless our girls decided to go in. All the kids took in Thunder Hole, Otter Cliffs, Little Hunter Beach and Cadillac Mountain. Evenings were spent sitting around the Bar Harbor Inn playing cards, listening to music and taking walks uptown to shop and eat more lobster.

We stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn, which sits right on Frenchmen’s Bay in Bar Harbor. Here is the group of them in front of the hotel. Trips like these are funded by the student’s activity fee which they pay at the beginning of the school year.
